Helping you & your former partner separate well

Collaborative Practice is for families who want to settle out of court and are willing to negotiate openly, share information honestly, and consider advice from lawyers and other professionals to create tailored solutions.

How to separate, stay out of Court and stay friends

At BFLC we place an emphasis on amicable, non-court-based solutions whenever possible.
We’re also fixed fee, meaning you will know the costs of processes, giving you confidence about the decisions you make at every step.

Our initial consultation is $559 (inclusive of GST).

What you can expect from an initial consultation with us…

Expect to meet with your family lawyer (in person, via phone, or video call) for up to 1.5 hours, during which we’ll listen to you, answer your questions, ask questions to understand your goals, and outline potential pathways available to you.

Your initial consultation is not just about legal advice, it’s about helping you feel informed and more in control of your future.

And, if you’re ready, you can walk away with a tailored plan and a fixed price quote to get started on the next steps.

What questions do you have right now?

Here are some of the common questions we hear from people like you in the early days:

  • Where do we start?
  • How does all of this work?
  • How much will this cost?
  • Do I even need a lawyer at this point?
  • What happens next?

Everyone we work with starts with a sense of confusion – not really knowing what is ahead of them.

Here’s what you can expect from your very first consultation with one of our lawyers:

  • Answers to your most pressing questions
  • Up to date advice about your options
  • Questions from us so we can tailor our advice to meet you and your children’s needs
  • Tips to avoid common missteps
  • A tailored plan including recommended next steps, complete with a fixed price quote to get started.

Walk away from your 90 minute consultation feeling informed and supported. Here’s what we hear from people wanting a collaborative approach, at the end of their initial consultation…

“That gives me a lot to think about.”

“Í am so glad that I came to my appointment, I feel like a weight has been lifted”

“I feel confident now I have the information I need to talk to them about this.”

“I now have more of an understanding of the process.“

Our team helps families all around Australia through divorce, separation and all the bits in between.

We specialise in helping clients interested in the collaborative approach, aware of the power it gives you to avoid Court. If you and your former partner can sort through the legal issues you are facing collaboratively outside of the Court, then it can save you time, money and the emotional anguish that can be brought on by a more adversarial approach.

“At the conclusion of the first meeting my decision to appoint BFLC was an easy one. If the collaborative process fits with how you want to achieve a settlement outcome, I would have no hesitation in recommending Clarissa and BFLC.”
Michael

“… I am eternally grateful she took on my case at a time when I had lost faith in the collaborative process after two false starts with other Lawyers who weren’t the right fit.”
Jane
