Hi, my name is Kara and I am a Collaborative Family Lawyer at Brisbane Family Law Centre (BFLC).
As a lawyer at BFLC, I strive to assist good people navigating separation and divorce who want a calm, respectful and collaborative approach to achieve practical, future-focused outcomes they can feel confident moving forward with.
A little bit about me- my journey with BFLC began in 2021 when I joined the firm as an Administrative Assistant while completing the final year of my law and criminology degree. After progressing through a range of roles within the firm, I was admitted as a lawyer in 2023 and have proudly practised as a lawyer with BFLC ever since. Having worked across multiple roles within the firm for almost five years, I bring a strong understanding of how matters are managed from start to finish which allows me to work confidently, efficiently and with genuine insight into what clients need at each stage of their matter.
Since the end of 2024, I have been living and working in London, supporting BFLC clients entirely remotely. Despite being based overseas, I work closely with the Brisbane-based collaborative team to ensure clients receive well-rounded, thoughtful and consistent support. Clients often tell me how positive their experience has been, particularly valuing the accessibility, clear communication and calm guidance I provide throughout what can be an overwhelming time.
I offer flexible and after-hours appointments, making it easier for clients to access support around work, family commitments and time zones. My goal is for clients to feel supported, informed and reassured, never rushed or left wondering what comes next.
I am deeply passionate about collaborative family law and helping clients navigate separation and divorce in a way that minimises conflict and prioritises respectful communication. Where matters require a more formal approach, I am also confident and experienced in supporting clients through the court process and more complex family law disputes. I work with clients who want practical, future-focused outcomes and who value being supported with empathy, clarity and care.
Clients often describe me as calm, kind and grounding. I take the time to truly listen and ensure clients feel heard and understood, not just legally advised. I build strong relationships based on trust and openness, and I am not afraid to say, “we can work through this together.” Even in difficult moments, I aim to create a sense of steadiness and reassurance.
I bring a calm, supportive and organised approach to every matter. Clients can expect genuine care, reliable communication and a lawyer who is committed to guiding them through separation in a constructive and collaborative way, so they can move forward with confidence into their new chapter.
If you’re experiencing a separation, and don’t know where to turn, please do not hesitate to reach out. You are welcome contact me via email – kara@bflc.com.au – or you can reach out to our office at 07 3862 1955. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Q&A
- People describe me as: calm, empathetic and very organised.
- My favourite thing about family law is: being able to support people through one of the most challenging times in their lives and helping them feel less overwhelmed and more empowered.
- I am most happy when: I’m hopping on a two-hour flight to some wonderful place in Europe for the weekend! Somewhere near the ocean, with good food and good coffee (or Aperol!)
- If I wasn’t in law: I would likely be in Medicine (although I’m not sure I’d cope very well with blood!).
